The Block - Project

People use lots of different and creative ways of building a house. People reuse things such as plastic bottles, Boxes and more things. Some times people even have creative ways of how the house should stand. People even use leaves and flaxes  to build houses. When you go to the island or Africa you'll see very cool and creative houses. But nowadays people are using wood, bricks, timber, steel and more stronger materiel.

The Block - Project

In Africa, people are using bottles to build their homes. Instead of throwing plastic bottles away, they are recycling these to make their homes. Look at this link to view the building process Bottle homes. People in Africa also use mud and different rubbish for the base of their house. The mud is basically the glue for the whole house. People use Rocks, Flax, leaves and shipping containers to build strong homes in Africa. Some people don't even have houses to live in and that's so sad. Kids suffer because of the amount of rubbish that flies around the place.

Activity 1: The Social Network

For this activity please think about what you have learnt in class about Cyber smart. On your blog provide five rules that people should follow when sharing pictures or streaming videos online.

Don't talk to strangers or random people you think that is gonna do something bad to you. If they order you to do something don't listen just walk away.

Do not give any of your personal identity to people you don't know such as full name, date of birth, age, passport number and phone number.

Don't joke or prank anyone because you might not know what they might do back to you. And some of these people hack your personal information on social media.

Make sure you say nice things to other people and keep your negative words to yourself!!

Don't ever share your home address to anyone as well

Activity 3: Mass Migration

The current President of the United States of America (U.S.A.) is a man named Donald Trump. He was elected President in 2016. At the time, he promised the American people that he would build a wall between the U.S.A. and Mexico - the country immediately south of the United States. He made this promise because he wanted to stop people from crossing the American-Mexican border.
Earlier this year, a migrant caravan (people moving in a large group) came through South and Central America on its way to the Mexican-American border. The people in the caravan were heading to America to find jobs and build a better life for themselves and their families. You can learn more about them in this video.
Donald Trump’s plan to build the wall is very controversial (some people strongly agree with his idea and others strongly disagree).

I think it is a bad idea that Donald Trump decided to built a wall between USA and Mexico. Because its really selfish. I'm not being mean or something but it is. What if people wants to drive to Mexico or the other way around. Sometimes people might have families that live on the other side or people might come and visit.

Activity 2: Fighting for Freedom

Mahatma Gandhi was an activist best known for his role in helping India become an independent country in 1947. Prior to this, India was under British rule. During the fight to become free from England, Gandhi (and others) led peaceful protests, marches, and hunger strikes in India. His birthday (2nd October) is widely celebrated in India as the International Day of Nonviolence.
Gandhi originally studied to be a lawyer in London, England. When he completed his studies, he got a job in South Africa where he saw that people were treated differently because of their skin colour. He thought this was unfair and wrong, and so he organised protests to highlight the rights of Indians living in South Africa.
Gandhi impacted the world by using non-violent protest to bring about change. Recently, school students around the world have followed his lead and participated in peaceful protests about climate change. These were started by a girl called Greta Thunberg who, like Gandhi, is using nonviolent protest to try and make a change.

Me, myself knows that their are a lot of violence that happens around us and that is why I am here because I want to stop all of this violence. Sometimes people even die when violence happens. Children suffer because of the amount of force adults use against them. over 1000 people die each year being of the abuse people do to them.

Activity 3: The Columbian Exchange

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer born back in 1451. He started sailing when he was 14 years old and spent a lot of his life looking for a passageway from his home continent of Europe to Asia. He never found one. Instead, he spent much of his time in the Americas (North, Central and South).
Christopher Columbus was, and still is, a very controversial man. Some people would even call him ‘infamous’ (well-known for doing something bad) because he spent much of his life sailing around the world, enslaving innocent people, spreading diseases and taking natural resources from the countries that he visited. His actions had a significant impact on the lives of others.
Who has had a significant impact on your life?

My older sisters has been the most positive impact in my life. They always help me with my work. They always makes sure I'm doing my work and not going on a phone. Every night they help me with everything such as my school work. Everyday they have been pushing me so hard to try my best in everything even if I don't get it at all. Without them two I wouldn't be right here where I am. They have been to pushing me from when I was a baby to now and I thank the lord and my family for making this happen

Activity 2: When the Rubber Hits the Road

The Amazon rainforest is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. It is located in South America and is home to an incredibly special and unique environment. Unfortunately, the long-term health of the forest is at risk with hundreds of people entering the rainforest and cutting down trees without permission. Activists, like Marina Silva, are fighting back against this illegal logging and, in some cases, they are winning.
Marina actually spent her childhood working in the Amazon rainforest as a rubber tapper. She did not attend school or learn how to read or write until the age of sixteen. In fact, she was the first person in her family to ever go to school and the first one to earn a university degree. Her family must have been so proud of her accomplishments.
Aj - "I am most proud of my family for providing food for me and my siblings"
Saia - "I am proud of my SUNDAY church for always praying to the lord on SUNDAYS"
Vilaimi - "I am proud of my family for always sticking up for me, for always putting food on my table, for putting shoes on my feet and for putting clothes on my body"

Activity 1: The Rainman of Rajasthan

Many countries don’t even get clean water to drink, wash and do more
incredible things. They drink water from the ground, river, Ocean and the sea. Sometimes people even have to eat mud or rubbish because of the pollution. Kids drink water from rivers that are pollution or that have diseases because they don’t have clean water at all. Over 1 billion kids from Africa
doesn't even have any access to any clean water at all. Here's people all around
the world that waste food and water but they don't think about all the people
that suffer in Africa. Sometimes people die everyday because they don't have
water to drink and food to eat everyday.

Activity 2: Equal Pay for Equal Work?

I Agree that both gender athletes should get the same amount of payment because maybe the Female athletes work more than Male athletes or it might be the other way around. And another reason why is because it isn't fair at all that male gets more money than females.  Even if they don't do that much work they should still get paid the same amount of money for both genders. But I disagree that male athletes should get more money than female athletes. People get more money because they either work extra time or they do more work than they usually do. But it isn't a bad thing at all.
