Why is it important to swim?!
Why is it important to swim? Swimming is very important because when very big nature disasters happen heaps of people will drown or die and will never be able to swim or call for help. People have to learn how to swim so they can every have strong muscles or lose a lot of weight. Climate change is one of the reasons why we have to learn how to swim. Islands are now sinking and people are now dying because they don’t know how to swim.
Do you have to pay for swimming lessons? It depends because for some schools people have to pay for swimming lessons to be taught. But nowadays some schools are very lucky to have free swimming lessons everyday and anytime. Kids from around the world are now suffering and drowning because they have a school that doesn’t have any swimming lessons to be taught to any of them.
Now that the sea levels are rising and increasing everybody has to now learn how to swim or else something bad will happen to them and their family. Sometimes young children really want to learn how to swim but they have to pay. I’ll say some schools in New Zealand have free swimming lesson and that's very lucky. When Large nature disasters happen people can just swim to safety and save themselves.

Weekend x2!!
In the weekend my mother and I picked up my little nephew from Mangere. All of my siblings love it when we bring him home because he’s a good baby and he never cries for little things. Sometimes he only cries when he’s hungry or tired. So when we picked him up we went to a flea market that also happens in Mangere. Every time we go there we always see our families and friends.
We stayed at the market for about 20 minutes and brought some baby food for my little nephew. Whenever we get home we all have to jump in the shower one by one and get ready for church before the sermon starts. My nephew loves going to church because he has little friends that are there as well.
Every time we go to church I always have to look after him and make sure he’s alright. Little kids always wanna hold him and play with him. We all love going to church because we see our friends and families. When church finishes we go home and have our delicious family lunch my mom prepared for all of us.
After we come from church we go to Paknsave and buy some more food for all of us to eat. This week we had yummy Fettuccine with Chicken and Rice. Baby had Cream Rice and Fettuccine. After having all that yummy food we were all tired so we went to sleep. I couldn’t go sleep because I had to look after my nephew.

Water fun day!!
On Wednesday 12th February our whole school had a very fun opportunity to get wet and play with our friends. In the morning some teachers and students were getting all the fun activities ready and planning for the day. Students and teachers came dressed in their beautiful house colours : Kauri (Green), Kowhai (Yellow), Nikau (Blue) and Rata!! (Red). People had very creative ways of dressing up.
Before the day started the water couldn’t really work because there were people on the roads doing some work with the water. So we had to go around the whole school and see if the water was working. But only the juniors water would work. After filling all our buckets up we finally started.
So the whole school had about 6 amazing activities altogether. Heaps of kids were very excited so each house colour did their own chant. It was really funny because other houses kept wetting each other even the teachers. We had water guns and other water toys to wet people.
Our first activity was in our school pool. We basically just had free time and played with some swimming gear. Next the bell rang and we had to go to our next activity Water Bombs by both Miss Smith. In that activity we had to try and throw as many balloons to each other. But we had to try and not drop it. It was really funny because heaps and heaps of people kept dropping the balloons.
After Miss Smith’s activity we went to Miss Kyee with her activity. In that activity we had to get a yogurt carton and run to our house bucket and fill it up until it gets to the top. Some of the people from my class started cheating but it was really funny because Miss kyee kept chasing everyone with the water guns.
Then our next activity was Mr Nath. Our goal was to get a cup which had four holes on the side, then try and get it to our house bucket again. After that activity we had the slide with Mrs Atuahiva and Mrs Pome’e. In this activity we had to a cup again and slide down with our cup in our hand. Then run to the bucket to fill up.
Our Last activity was will Mrs Ripata and Mrs Pa’uvale. We had to dip a sponge in the bucket and run it to our court to squeeze the water into the bucket. And that was the end of our Water fun day!! Before all the classes went for morning tea Mrs tofa announced the winners for 2020. Kowhai came 4th place, Kauri came 3rd, Rata came 2nd and Nikau came 1st!!!

Kiwi Can - Week Two
Today we had our second lesson of Kiwi Can with Miss Grace and Mr Simanu. We were told our new topic and theme which is Fair play and Positive Relationship. We firstly had our energizer which was 21. We had two teams boys vs girls, the team weren't equal so some of the boys had to join the girls team. Minutes after the girls finally won the game.
After our fun energizer talked about what it feels like when people cheat and how do you feel. We had really cool answers and ideas that were shared around the class.
Then it was time for our Activity which was Human Bowling. We still had the same teams, Boys vs Girls. It was a very funny and challenging game because people had to try and get the other team out but none of could move or flinch. For this game the boys finally won the game and it was a tie for both teams.
So we had another game called G.K.Q End of the road. And we still had the same teams but about two boys had to join again to make it equal. And this game the girls won again!! it was really cool playing fun games and learning more and more things every time.
Weekend!!
In the weekend, my family and I woke up really early for a volleyball game my sister was attending at Otahuhu. Her team was playing against two amazing schools, Auckland Girls Grammar School and McAuley High School. My sister goes to Tamaki College and she is a senior so she played against really good seniors. I think they played really good. They won one game and lost the other game but at least they all had fun and played properly.
After my sister’s really good volleyball game we had a family feed that we had to also attend later. We had it in Mangere which is 10-15 minutes away from here. We basically had a family get together, we had fun with our cousins, aunties and uncles. We also had some very yummy and delicious island food made by the beautiful ladies.
We just ate and talked the whole afternoon. My little cousins, nieces and nephews played at the park and made new friends. Some of us were playing cricket and rugby while the adults were talking. I stayed inside because i wanted to look at my little nephew who is really cute and chubby.

Kiwi Can!!
Today Room 7 had their first kiwi can lesson for 2020. This year we have two new beautiful kiwi can teachers named Miss Grace and Mr Simanu. Mr Simanu has been at our school for a while last year but he decided to do it again this year as well. They are both funny and lovely teachers that get around with kids a lot.
For our lesson we played a game called “In the holiday”. The game was a very funny game because people made each other laugh and everybody enjoyed it. It was kinda difficult for us to move around because some of our classmates were not at school today. But it was still a funny game to play.
After we played that amazing game we had to come up with our own class rules. We had three main topics: Learn, Encourage, and Share. Our whole class decided to have seven rules altogether. We all had really cool and creative ideas of what our rules should be. People had to vote on what the rule had to be as well.
Then we had our other activity that was called `Defender”. It's when our whole class gets into a big circle and people try to get each other out but only with one hand. We all had to have our legs wide open so the ball can go through our legs. When the game gets easier the teachers add another ball to the game.
After that game we play GKQ which is a game when people ask questions and the first person to get it right wins but the person that didn’t get it right has to be out. We had two equal teams, Boys vs Girls. It was a very inteas game because the boys kept getting all the answers right and sadly the girls lost the game.
Now that was the end of our kiwi can lesson. It was really fun getting to learn new things and play new fun games. It was also a great experience for our new class for 2020 to mingle with each other and get to know each other as well.
